The Mormon Church (Why this Web Site)The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church) was organized in 1830. The Church claims to be the Restored Church of the Savior, once again established on the earth, after several centuries of apostasy. We understand that the claims of the Mormon Church may easily create confusion or concern among many good and religious people, especially Christians. This happens because, an obvious implication of saying that there was an apostasy from the truth originally preached by Jesus and the first apostles, is that all other Christian churches do not know or do not preach the complete gospel of Jesus Christ. In other words, there is something missing in their creeds. Obviously this does not mean that those churches do not preach many good and proper principles, or that those churches’ members are not honest and faithful people. This is not the point, the point is that the Mormon Church has the mission of teaching those important truths that had been lost after the death of Jesus and the apostles. We respect all other churches and creeds, even when we honestly affirm that they miss something. In fact, we believe that all churches have a part of the truth but not all of it. They are not “wrong”, but they are incomplete, and we have the duty to point this out, even when this implies receiving a lot of criticism and harsh feeling from many otherwise good people. This Website’s purpose is to openly and honestly discuss what Mormonism really is and what it stands for. We hope to convince all men and women to embrace the true Church of Jesus Christ, by keeping all the good and true principles they learned in their own churches and adding the unique truths found in the restored gospel, the same gospel preached by Jesus in Palestine, 2000 years ago. |
